Los Gatos is a great place to walk around, window shop the overpriced boutiques, hopefully snag some good deals, and enjoy great food.  Some of our favorite restaurants in the downtown Los Gatos area include California Cafe (especially their bread pudding!!!), Sweet Peas Cafe, and Anda.

A few months ago, Lauren coaxed me into joining her at Sweet Peas Cafe.  They specialize in breakfast and lunch, and Lauren always raves about their fantastic crepes.  I went along with her, and actually enjoyed crepes!  But, I mean, look at these things: Berry Custard Crepes…

That day, I had gotten an omelette and their home fries were fan-tas-tic.

Today we decided to try out another breakfast joint in the cute downtown Los Gatos area.  We settled on Los Gatos Cafe because of it’s great Yelp reviews and noted reputation.  Looking at the photos of their meals on Yelp got us so so so excited.

The outside decor of this cafe is very quaint.  When you walk inside, there are actually quite a few tables though!  Because it was 10AM on a Thursday, we luckily snatched two seats at the counter.  I noticed on their chalkboard that they offered some unique menu items, such as Blueberry Wheatgerm Pancakes.  Opening the menu, two things immediately caught my eye…

We ended up getting a different dish though… we decided to split a plate because Los Gatos Cafe is known for their generous portions.  Because it was nearing lunch time, I really wanted some protein via crab/shrimp.  We settled on the mouthwatering shrimp and crab benedict, complete with scrambled egg (whites), avocado, and hollandaise sauce over an English muffin.  The dish also came with herb potatoes.

Our food came out within 5 minutes of ordering it, which was fantastic.  The service was great and our water glasses were always filled up!  Two wins in my book.

This dish was seriously amazing.  The buttery aspect of the hollandaise sauce spilled all over the food.  The egg whites, crab, and shrimp were SO fluffy and melted in my mouth.  The potatoes were super crispy and well-seasoned.  One great thing about the potatoes was that they were paired with many sliced onions (I think this is key for great quality breakfast potatoes).  Certain bites that paired the english muffin, avocado, shrimp/crab, egg, and hollandaise sauce were the best.  They were very generous with the avocado, shrimp, and crab.  It’s always frustrating when restaurants don’t include enough of the “nicer” ingredients of a dish.

Our bill, which included a split plate charge and a charge for egg whites, rounded out to about $15.  SO WORTH IT!  After demolishing this dish, we headed out of the cafe and roamed the boutiques around Los Gatos.  I purchased a pair of green pants from Gap to wear at work.  They were on sale and 40% off, so only 19 buckaroos.  This morning was full of quality deals!

We can’t wait to return to Los Gatos soon for some more great dining experiences.  Next on our list is Thai Spice, and possibly some dessert from Dolce Spazio ;)

On my drive home I took a risk and put my iPhone on shuffle.  I enjoyed these throwback songs.  Girl singers for the win…

“Monster Hospital” – Metric AND “Gold Lion” – Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Q4U: How do you prefer your eggs?  Scrambled, poached, hard-boiled, sunny side up, over easy?
