Giants Game

Thursday Night
Remember how awesome yesterday was? I took the day off to recover from Kickball, grab brunch with Nicole, and get in a longer run than I usually get to.
The night was equally awesome because it was spent with Kyle at the Giants game in San Francisco! We had plans to take Caltrain at 5:06 from Palo Alto, so I quickly showered after the gym and made myself a yummy smoothie:
- 3/4 cup almond milk
- 2 heaping spoons of greek yogurt
- 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder
- spoonful of chocolate PB2
- 1 frozen banana
- lots of crushed ice
I guzzled it down while driving to Palo Alto, rocking’ the 80s tunes of 98.5. I might have also applied all of my makeup. Anybody else guilty of multitasking in a car? I promise I don’t ever put on eyeliner while driving though. Messy.
At 5:06 there was no train in sight. 5, 10, 15 minutes go by and still nothing. This can’t be good.
We had already purchased the $26 worth of train fare when we heard that there had been yet another train suicide fatality incident on a southbound train. This marks the third suicide in 9 days. Nine days!
A lot of people were bummed out by the impact it had on travels, but Kyle and I stayed fairly positive and figured out a new route while constantly checking twitter for updates. LOVE me some twittering!
After a drive to Millbrae, a train to SF, and a pit stop in the Safeway bathroom, we headed over to the stadium with some snacks purchased at the grocery store.
1. sampled delicious almonds covered in maple/cinnamon/sugar
2. grapes at 0.99/lb (Lauren fact: I’ll only buy grapes when they dip below the $1/lb mark!)
3. sunflower seeds (don’t mind Kyle’s killing gloves in pic #3)
We enjoyed the first 5 innings before getting some dinner.
Giant’s Dog $4.75 with ketchup + onions for him and ketchup, onions, mustard, and relish for me. This is mayyyybe my fifth hot dog I have ever eaten. Three of the five have been with Doze. I ate my first hot dog at the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey circus with my Dad, Lauretta, Katie, and … Nicole, were you there?
Nacho Grande $6.75 – a heaping pile of tortilla chips with nacho cheese, salsa, and a buttload of jalapenos. We threw some onions on there as well. So delicious. Ballpark food just hits the spot, ya know?
We admired the views from both sides of the ballpark. From our seats we had terrific views of McCovey Cove and from the inside ring you could catch a glimpse of south Embarcadero + the Bay Bridge.
Can you spot the bat in the picture above? Hint: the arrow is pointing to it! The Giants didn’t win, but at least I got to see Brandon Crawford from a couple hundred feet away! So adorable.
The train mischief continued, when there was apparently a shoe fight that broke out in the bike train car. Sheriffs boarded the train after about three stops to escort the hoodlums off. Canines were involved. Serious stuff.
Friday
I slept in this morning, had a mug of Rice Krispies, and drove to the vanpool spot only to see a strange SWAT team pull up. I wonder what they were doing in the parking lot? Weird thing is I only saw them arrive, but they magically disappeared 15 minutes later!
Breakfast was so delicious. You know how I MUST put bananas in my oatmeal? I do it to avoid leg cramps that will 100% show up if I don’t have my daily ‘nana. Well today I added fresh cherries + cherry flavored craisins!
Kyle gave me the bag of cherries (#1) last night and I was pretty excited to have something a little more original in my (#3) oatmeal/oat bran combo!
Lunch (#2) was leftovers x5 days ago. I’m a monster. Garbage disposal. And I’m cheap. But like I’ve said before, eating on the cheap for lunch is A-OK with me since I tend to spend a lot more money on dinners, driving all over the Big Ol’ Bay Area, clothes, and fro yo.
You’ll notice that I had a (#2) blueberry eggo waffle. I snagged that baby from Kyle’s freezer this morning, knowing that my leftover stash was a wee bit smaller than usual. When I finished the waffle I instantly wished I had 3 more stuffed in my purse, all limp like the first one was :) Don’t worry I toasted that blueberry cake to a crisp!
In the final 45 minutes of my work day I pumped out a report I spent most of the day working on while I snacked on more cherries and an orange (#4). Thank goodness the day was almost over and at least I wasn’t getting a cavity filled like Nicole…
With 1 minute to go, I sent off the paper and joined the vanpool only to see…
TRAFFIC?!! Arrrghhh
Don’t you worry, I took out my iPhone and confirmed that the backup would only last for 200 feet! Wahoo!
Without stopping at home, I made my way to Los Gatos (was just there yesterday with Coley, remember?) for a hair appointment at Nuvoux Salon with Joanie Warwick. I have been seeing her for years and she’s been slowly turning me back into a blonde.
She's a pro
Lightening up!
Tomorrow is Monterey Beer Fest!!!! While talking with my coworker Tyler, I remembered the beer I fell in love with last year, Baltika. I hope they come back this year! Do you want to read my recap of beer fest numero uno? Click here.
Question: What’s the craziest thing you decided to do with your hair? Did you like the results? Are you adventurous or more conservative?
Around Labor Day last year I decided to spend a couple of hours in Santa Monica, CA going from blonde to red… that was the first time I’ve ever colored my hair (highlights don’t count). It was a lot of fun switching it up, but it was just too costly to maintain!
Blonde to Red
Question: What’s your favorite thing to eat at the ballpark? Does your home team have a really good selection of eats?
The Giants stadium offers a lot more options that I originally thought there would be (definitely more than at Sharks games in the HP Pavilion). The nachos from Tres looked amaaazzzing but were $10+!!

Ahhh, I always need a hot dog at the stadium.
The garlic fries are great to smell and great to pick a few off a friend’s, but damn hard to eat a whole thing of it.
The gf and I are trying to go to all the MLB baseball stadiums. She wants to collect ticket stubs and take a bunch of pics, I just want to eat a hot dog from each stadium.
Also, I’m glad you only eat hot dogs with Doze  haha
Plus their garlic fries are over two times the price of a hot dog. Why do they have to be so tasty but cost so much?! How many stadiums have you been to? I feel like that would take forevvvvverrrrr. But it’s a good excuse to travel around and compare hot dogs?
