Oh hey there bloggers! In case you forgot what today is, it’s Lauren’s birthday!!!!!

Now for some slightly depressing news… Maple is injured.

I was riding to the gym today and got about halfway there, when an evil nail stuck itself into Maple’s back tire.  I was stranded.  In the sun.  I started reading the July/August issue of Women’s Health

ANOTHER EXCUSE TO EAT ICE CREAM!!!

Luckily, my dad came to rescue me and drive me back home.  Erg, I was so frustrated though! Now I need to bring my bike in, replace the tire, other hassling stuff, etc.  No bike riding for a few days :(

Even though I was pretty peeved, I still managed to get my butt to the gym (that’s motivation if you ask me).  And I’m glad I did.  I drove there and had a fantastic workout.

Annoyed about my bike, I expelled my energy on the treadmill.  I ran 2.5 miles in about 20 minutes.  I was so anxious to figure out my average pace and immediately calculated it (had to ignore the walking warm-up stats on the treadmill’s ‘workout summary’)…

8:03 PER MILE!!!!! I WAS SO EXCITED.  That is a fan-frikken-tastic pace if you ask me.  I am not a fast runner, but today I felt unstoppable!

Oh wait.  My calves still hurt like fiery hellballz falling on cramp city.  I still need to figure out a way to fix my cramping calves.

I hopped off the treadmill and decided to do some ab/arm work.  I did about 5+ minutes of crunches, bicycles, etc. and then moved on to my arms.  Today was a “30 rep” kind of day…

  1. 30 reps (5 lb) of these butterfly curls from a magazine I saw about a month ago photo 25 Frustrating Flat
  2. 30 reps (8 lb) bicep curls
  3. 30 reps (12 lb) behind the neck tricep dips
  4. 30 reps (15 lb) leaning right and left dips with dumbells in hands –> works abs
  5. 30 reps (15 lb) shoulder lifts –> works arms and back
  6. 30 reps (resistance band) tricep and back stretching  (basically create a W behind your neck with the resistance band in each hand –> stretch arms until straight –> release back to W –> repeat)

After this, I did another cool down mile on the treadmill at a pace of ~8:35.

Then I drove back home, and now I’m helping my mom make Lauren’s birthday dinner!  When my mom plans dinner, she goes all out and we have a fantastic feast, kinda like this one.  On the menu: veggie lasagna, garlic bread, salad, and cherry-Dr. Pepper cupcakes!!!  It’s gonna be a fantastic night!

Q4U: What fitness goal are you working on?

Q4U: What fitness accomplishment are you proud of lately?!

  1. I really want to be able to run more but my shins are acting up and I’m just crossing my fingers that I haven’t got another stress fracture :/ I surprised myself by being able to run 6 miles without dying at all… not fast, mind you, but I did it ;) I’d love to get faster, I tend to be afraid of short speedy workouts and favor the long slower runs ;) lol.

    great job!!! :)

    • Such a bummer about the shins (shin splints are so so so terrible…) but WOW 6 miles! Way to go! I’m the complete opposite… I’ll whip my butt and get super tired out from a 20 minutes treadmill session. I really need to focus on running longer distances but I just get so bored! How do you keep yourself busy? Do you run outside?

  2. Ahh. I ride my bike to and from school everyday…luckily I’ve never gotten a flat — but poor MAPLE! :( Weirdly enough my mom’s car gets nails in its tires all.the.time. Hope Maple gets some nice TLC soon!
    And happy birthday to Lauren!!!

  3. I am working on really getting my strength training up to par! Having a lot of fun while I’m at it too :) Love those rear delt lifts.
