Sweaty 50 Minute Interval Workout
Posted by Nicole
I typically don’t like designing my specific treadmill sessions because I tend to just go with the flow and increase/decrease speed/incline as my body tells me to. Today I felt like powering through a new 50 minute treadmill workout. I made it up as I did it, and it suuuure was a good one. Just to clarify, by “good” I mean I was covered in sweat literally from head-to-toe upon completion. (Does that count as a shower? ;) I’m so gross.)
50 Minute Interval Workout – combines incline walking and running
Total doofus picture… ANYHOW, today I was a big girl and wore real workout clothes to the gym. UnderArmour running shorts (the ones with the weird underwear in them, awkward) and a blinding orange shirt courtesy of the 2010 Applied Materials Turkey Trot. If you live in the Bay Area, I highly suggest you participate this November – it is really fun. My family loves doing this 10K each Thanksgiving morning and it has become one of our favorite traditions. BTW, I’m pretty sure that 99.9% of my thoughts during the run each year are strictly about Thanksgiving dinner (specifically the homemade apple pie and pumpkin pie).
Yes, I ran with my hair down because it was super cold that morning. And yes, I felt like a hippie. And YES, it was GREAT. I think I told Lauren it felt “liberating”… ha!

On the food front, I had a big ol’ bowl of oat bran this morning. I added frozen blueberries (my favorite), cinnamon, maple syrup, and honey granola to the mix. Blueberries win the award for best oat bowl fruit because they burst in the microwave and the ooey blueberries permeate through the oats. I included no oatmeal today… I’m starting to prefer the texture of pure oat bran. This bowl was followed by a cup of applesauce straight from a huge jar. I probably could have eaten all 8 servings in the jar. I love applesauce, but Lauren doesn’t. More for me!
Post workout, I met my friend KATIE for some bowls of frozen heaven (aka Yogurtland). She leaves a cute hole in the middle of her froyo…
Katie is one of the coolest girls I know and I could probably sit and chat with her for hours on end. She is so down-to-earth, kind, smart, friendly, and athletic. (Katie if you are reading this– 1) Don’t worry, I’m not too creepily obsessed with you and 2) trail run soon!!!)
Apparently we pose the same in every picture and she is always on my right… odd! It was such a fun hour of sitting in the sunny grass and eating delicious froyo. Now I’m off to enjoy veggie lasagna leftovers from Lauren’s b-day dinner last night. Have a good Friday, friends :)
Q4U: What is your favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner?
PIEEEEEE. And scoops of ice cream to sidekick the pie.

My favorite thing about Thanksgiving is actually not even the meal, but the sub from Capriotti’s called The Bobbie that’s basically thanksgiving on a sub! Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce (which I ONLY like on this sandwich) and maybe mayo? Major indulgence, good to the last bite!
