I’ve been busy getting last minute things accomplished before heading to Illinois!
Let’s back up.
It rained today. So WEIRD. The weather in CA has been absolutely beautiful and the rain really came out of no where. Rain translated to no outside activity for me. I really don’t like rain/wind/etc. I’m actually quite picky when it comes to weather– probably why I chose colleges in San Diego and Los Angeles!
After a snacking food coma, I chose to do a workout video via Hulu. It was a dance- “abs burn” video that lasted about 50 minutes. Basically… I felt super awkward the entire time and wanted to quit every 2 minutes. The video included a lot of contracting, weird hip popping, and constant “snaking” of the hips. I need to get my dance groove back so moves like this don’t feel so abnormal. (HA, ab-normal… punny)
Dinner
Dinner was great. ’Twas the same thing that I ate for lunch on Monday, but it was somehow better. Maybe it was the red onion that I added? Maybe it was all the hip-snaking & hip-shaking?
Then I had a Fuji apple for dessert. For some reason I haven’t had an apple in a while (maybe because I’ve been preoccupied with applesauce?) The apple was sweet, fresh, and crisp; it definitely hit the spot. There’s nothing worse than a soggy apple. After doing stuff around the house and letting my fiber-filled dinner digest, I eventually dragged my booty to the gym.
Workout
I hopped on a treadmill and ran 3.05 miles in 23 minutes doing the following time/speed intervals.
I believe I had to run a little to get to an even number. Doing the stats out with 23:20 as the time and 3.05 as the mileage spit out an average pace of 7:40 per mile. I don’t really think that is accurate, so I must have made a mistake in my calculation. Oh well!
Then I did lots of weight-lifting. (OK, not really lots… but about 10 minutes worth). I wanted to take advantage of the 5, 8, and 15 lb dumbbells because they won’t be available to me while I’m in Illinois. I tried to hit up my triceps, biceps, obliques, and shoulders by doing lots of exercises that I don’t know the “correct terminology” for. I did manage to do quite a few reps of Julie‘s shoulder moves. To finish off my workout, I ran a little bit more (0.75 miles) at a relatively calm speed before calling it quits. To be honest, my calves are killing me. I’m going to take two days off of running and then run again on Friday and/or Saturday to finish my weekly running goal. My body needs it, and I’m listenin’!
Post-Workout
The gym made me huuuuungry!!! I came home at about 9:15 and made dinner numero two. It wasn’t really dinner, more like a jumble of random snacks (my fave). Cereal, bowl of peanut butter oat bran, huge bowl of spinach and ranch (heck yea I crave spinach at 11:00 PM), and half of a frozen banana. Good thing I ate because I needed the fuel to clean my room and finish packing.
Now it’s 1:45 AM and I can’t wait to head to Illinois!!! I am currently sitting in bed typing this post because I can never sleep before vacations! I get so anxious. I can’t wait to get reunited with my amazing family in one of my favorite places!!!
Well, I’ll be back later from across the country!
Q4U: Are there any twins in your family? Bonus points if you ARE a twin!
I have twin godsisters/cousins (photo above) and twin uncles (Ron & Don)! I hope I have twins later in life :)
Q4U: Would you want to be a twin?
I don’t think I would. I’m too competitive ;) Lauren unfortunately has to deal with that trait of mine…

Have a wonderful time in Illinois girl! I was actually born there and I haven’t been back since we moved when I was 8 !!! :) Hope the weather isn’t too humid yet!
I don’t think I could be a twin either. My boyfriend and his brother are twins. I live with BOTH of them right now… yeah I couldn’t be a twin!
Craving spinach at 11 is A-OK when you get up early. It was 11 today when I heated up lasagna for lunch :) !
Have a great trip!
Woohoo go IL! I’m in Chicago and the weather is just starting to get nice (for the first time this summer!!) so welcome back!
