This morning we headed out to Tempo Cafe (6 E Chestnut St, Chicago IL 60611) to enjoy a delicious breakfast. David and our mom ate there when they were in Chicago last, and David highly suggested we enjoy the breakfast creations that Tempo Cafe has to offer.

We only had to wait a couple minutes being being seated at a table on their front patio. As Lauren greatly stated, “I love dining al fresco!” We took a look at the menu… and kind of wanted to order everything. (This tends to happen a lot…)

I decided to order the “Veggie Omelette– spinach, zucchini, broccoli.” All of their omelets are served on a bed of skillet potatoes and with a side of bread and homemade marmalade. The fluffiness of the egg whites was seriously magical. I want to know the secret to making insanely fluffy omelets, anyone care to share a trick? After topping my plate with Tapatio, ketchup, and the restaurant’s signature salsa, I was ready to dig in. The crunchy pieces of broccoli and zucchini were great, and it felt awesome to get some greens in my body while on vacation. The protein of the eggs was guaranteed to keep me full for a couple hours, and I destroyed the omelet! David exclaimed “I’m surprised you ate that whole thing!” He clearly underestimates my abilities :) I didn’t finish the skillet potatoes that were the foundation of the omelet, mostly because they weren’t very crispy and I was full by the time I reached them.

Lauren and David ordered from the “Batter Shop” section of the menu. Lauren got the “Morning Glory Special– a trio of fresh strawberries, bananas, and blueberries combined with a golden brown waffle.” Lauren thought the waffle was extremely crispy on the outside, as well as light on the inside. Combined with syrup and butter, what more could a girl ask for?

David selected some coffee and the “Fresh Banana Nut Buckwheat Pancakes.” David’s favorite part about his pancakes were the chunks of bananas within the pancakes. I tried a bite, and they were loaded with bananas. I love when restaurants are generous with fruit and veggies!

We all liked our dishes, evidently…

Full up!

After our meal, we strolled around downtown Chicago. We made our way to Lake Michigan, the Apple Store, and the Nike Store. Once our metered parking was expired we headed to the Giants/Cubs game!

Downtown Chi-Town!

David- posed with a fancy car!

Apparently there was some event going on in downtown having to do with expensive cars. There was a sign that said “The Cake Boss is Coming!” I got SO excited, but he would be coming later in the night and we wouldn’t be able to creepily stalk him/take lots of photos of him. Oh Buddy, he’s so hilarious! Once our metered parking was expired we headed to the Giants/Cubs game!

Q4U: Do you enjoy “dining al fresco” (outdoors) or indoors?
