If all goes according to plan, this post will go up as I’m driving to Soledad, CA for the Salinas Valley Half Marathon! Thanks for the extra wake-up call Nicole!!
The course is b-e-a-utiful! I ran this race last year and fell in love with the vineyards and post-race festivities at Pessagno Winery. I’ll do a full recap of 2011’s race ASAP. After the race, I plan on driving to a campsite outside of Hollister for a few hours of Family Reunion fun!
How was your Friday?
I enjoyed a few extra hours of sleep before making a not so tasty smoothie. It lacked a banana and was really runny.
Inside included kale, almond milk, almond extract, pb2, protein powder (choc?), ice cubes, and I even threw in an Oreo! Ah, still no good.
At work, my lunch was last night’s extra breakfast burrito… After tap class I picked up two fish tacos, this bfast burrito (egg, potato, bacon, other stuff?), and an order of chips and guac from Chacho’s in Campbell, CA. One day, when I’m bored, I’ll share pictures of the other Chacho’s food. My roommate was quite happy I brought her some food :)
lunch bfast burrito hit the spot, despite re-nuking it in the microwave TWO more times.
In other news: After reading Niki’s post about her birthday swag, I decided to check Lululemon’s We Made Too Much section. I saw astro crops in my size and impulsively decided to purchase them.
30% off isn’t the best deal, but I wear my other lulu crops ALL the time (I’m wearing them right now!) Speaking of my crops… I wore them to the gym after work! (good transition?)
Friday Workout is brought to you by the letter F – Food Network and the Fitnessista!
I spent 30 minutes on the elliptical, not really paying attention to anything except for the Food Network and the treadmill sprinters in front of me (12.0 mph?!)
I followed up the light cardio with Gina’s August Weights Workout… modified. I was tired, hungry, and nervous about pushing my tiny muscaloes to their limit. Instead of doing 3 sets, I did 2. I didn’t do the assisted pull-ups at all because that machine was way too far away. However, I did double up on #8 (a minute of bench step ups on each leg!)
Move #3 was my favorite. I think I stacked the bench too high and my squat didn’t burn as much, but the leg raise part did!
For dinner I had almost a full order of gooey warm naan (carbs for tomorrow :) oh yeah) and tandoori salmon over a bed of romaine lettuce with lentil chips and chickpea noodles in a tamarind dressing (from Chaat Cafe).
I then prepared what I like to call the…
Tahini Buckwheat Breakfast Bake
- 1/2 banana, mushed with fork
- 1 T protein powder (I used TJ’s chocolate whey)
- 1 T tahini
- 1 T oat bran
- 1 T maple syrup
- 2 T ground buckwheat groats
- 2 T milk (I used almond milk)
- 1 egg white
- 1/4 t baking powder
Combine all ingredients in a bowl, whisking together until smooth. Pour into a lightly greased (hi, Pam!) baking dish and place into the microwave with a paper towel over the top for at least 2 minutes (I did 2 minutes, flipped it, and then another 30 seconds). Carefully remove the buckwheat bake from your dish and then ADD toppings!
Because I made this the night before, I’ll add a few toppings in the a.m. before my drive down to Soledad!
Hope you all have a beautiful Saturday morning! I’ll have a glass of wine for you at the finish line!
Question: Saturday plans?
