The Lakefront Wedding

Before I can get to this…
…I want to give you a little equation from yesterday: 1 + 2 = 3! (no, that’s not 3 factorial, which would be 6, it’s just me shrieking)
- Free sugary baked goods at our offsite training + a pathetic attempt at oatmeal without a microwave (I added the sugary apple center of the pastry to my oats – you can just call me O-money. It was brilliant.)
PLUS - Trifecta of unhealthy afternoon snacks that taunt me… yesterday’s brownies were much better than Wednesday’s. That didn’t help.
TOTALLY EQUALS - Gym!! I didn’t want to go, but I got my butt down there at 8:15 pm for the following:
- 10 min treadmill @ 7.5 mph, 2.0 incline
- circuit 1, two times through, no rest
- 30 walking lunges with overhead press, glute kickback, 10# in each hand
- split squat, 10# in each hand, 15 each leg
- plie squat with bicep curls, 10# in each hand, 15 total
- plank hold, 1 minute
- 10 min treadmill @ 7.5 mph, 2.0 incline
- circuit 2, two times through, no rest
- deadlift, 15# in each hand, 20 (did i mention that my arms are weak?)
- overhead tricep extension, 10# weight, 12 each side
- dumbbell chest press on stability ball, 15# in each hand, 15 total
- stay on stability ball for 50 crunches, your choice
- pushups, on knees, 20
- 10 min treadmill @ 7.5 mph, 2.0 incline
Now, back to the good stuff… Krista and Adam’s wedding ceremony! If you’d like to read the other recaps leading up to their wedding on Lake Shelbyville, check these links out:
Let’s start, shall we? Do you mind if I let the pictures do most of the talking? Cool.
Note the umbrella-ella-ellas. Five minutes before the ceremony, it started to drizzle.
The most adorable mother-daughter picture of all time? Quite possibly.
Teresa, the mother of the bride and Alex, as a suavemente usher
Clockwise, from top left: Joe and Maria, Wally and me, Alix and Jake, Brian and Shannon
Ring bearer (Tate) and flower girl (Molly), workin' it.
Aisle runner boys (Hunter and Payton) doing their thang
Dun dun dun dunnnnn... wedding march!
But let there be spaces in your togetherness, and let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another, but make not a bond of love: let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf. Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone.
- The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran
Aren’t they a stunning couple?
It’s hard to see, but Wally has raindrops on his suit coat…
So, about that surprise I mentioned yesterday… When we arrived to the wedding site, my aunt Rose and uncle Tom were waiting for her with a HORSE-DRAWN BUGGY!!!
I'm in the front with my purple-haired dolly (aptly named "Purple-Haired Dolly") and Krista's in the back making sure I feel safe :)
Krista began riding horses straight out of the womb, so it was very fitting that she rode into her wedding behind one! I personally don’t have a good picture of it, but you can see the buggy behind us in the picture below. It was a gorgeous white + red buggy with four red-rimmed wheels; our uncle Tom acted as coachman, and Missy took the front. ;)
I can’t wait for the professional pictures of this to be released!! After the ceremony, Krista and Adam were whisked away into the sunset thunderclouds.
Meanwhile, family posed for pictures in front of Alix’s ribbon swing. Gorgeous!
I made sure to get a picture with two of my favorite people: Nicole and Kyle…
Sister Love
Doesn't he look dapper?
Then we boarded the PARTAY BUS!! More on that in tomorrow’s post :)
Something to THINK about: John Steinbeck, California’s Central Valley author extraordinaire, once said/wrote: “A journey is like marriage. The certain way to be wrong is to think you control it.”
That quote was one of the signs along the course of the Salinas Valley Half Marathon I ran a few weekends back. Just thought I’d share!
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!
Question: What would you do if it started raining 5 minutes before your big, outdoor event?! Has anything similar ever happened to you?
The rain ain’t no thang. The open umbrellas looked beautiful, the bridesmaids were lucky + had a tree covering them, and it all ended with a beautiful rainbow! :)

it’s all good.. rain means a fertile marriage! ;) and I love how different her dress is than any I’ve seen recently!
The bottom part of the dress comes off! At the reception she took the bottom off so she could dance more. :)

That wedding looks SO fun! I feel like at that point you just have to embrace it and dance through the rain! :)
