Greetings from San Luis Obispo! The past 48 hours have been nonstop over here on California’s central coast. While you read this post, you should play the crazygood HALLOWEEN (FREAKS COME OUT) song by the [tentatively dubbed?] BriteSide.

It will set the Halloween mood :)

p.s. BriteSide is Kyle and Darrin’s side project. Aren’t they good?

Friday Night

First stop: Jake’s house. Jake is one lucky duck – he gets to live in San Luis Obispo still. Ah, the life. We had a few drinks and then walked downtown to the bars. We picked our favorite haunt from college – Downtown Brew – now called SLO Brewing Co.

After dancing and checking out all the clever costumes, the girls from socal arrived. I went with them back to our hotel, America’s Best Value Inn (cheap, great location, spacious, just what we needed).

Saturday Morning

I woke up and went for a leisurely 3 mile run. I passed by my sorority, the Cal Poly campus, and the guys’ old house, all while listening to the amazing new Coldplay album. Any other Coldplay fans?

After picking up my car in front of Jake’s house, I went back to the hotel and got ready for breakfast with the girls! We were in the mood for:

Splash Cafe

1491 Monterey Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401
Website - Yelp

Splash is world famous for their clam chowder. (And it’s also where Kyle worked as a chef throughout college!) Back in the day, we thought it was so funny giving fake names to the cashiers… Lauren = Pearl, Kerry = Diamond, Krish = Peridot (birth stones, so creative).

Kerry Diamond and I split a breakfast sandwich (eggs, tomatoes, red onion, mustardy remoulade + bacon) and an order of clam chowder in a bread bowl… tasty!

Saturday Noonish

After breakfast we went shopping downtown (SLO has the cutest little shops!) and then we went straight to Santa Rosa Park to meet up with the guys.

Hanging out…. truth or dare… lots of sunny shady pictures

Tasty BBQ, courtesy of Chef Sean: chicken, tri tip, eggplant, mushrooms, potatoes…

Love all around :)

Saturday Afternoon

Next stop for the group? Cal Poly! Earlier in the week Jake sent us a link to a $15 Oktoberfest tailgating event sponsored by the Alumni association (I think). The event featured many local brewers, including the very young Tap It. I fell in love with their IPA:

The event was soooo much fun!

By the way, two of our friends couldn’t make it this weekend, so Fran and Krish thought of a great way to include them in spirit. They printed true-to-size copies of Kevin + Kyle K.’s faces and taped them on to sticks. We made sure to bring them to Oktoberfest haha…

Saturday Night

After a nap that I didn’t realize I was taking (heh heh), it was costume time!! More on that later!!!!!
