Welllllll, hey. This week has been a weird one so far. I haven’t had classes because of designated “study days” before finals. My first final isn’t until Friday and I feel like I have soooo much free time. Here are some random notes.

On Monday, I woke up early for an exciting interview. After some breakfast I worked on an essay for a couple hours. I took a nap from 1-3 and then decided to meet up with my friend Hanah for some studying. But first, a trip to Starbucks to re-wake me up! After two weeks away from my favorite establishment, I am back in love with the Starbs.

Our study location was the best. Hanah is part of the Jewish community at USC and we studied in the awesome building where they have meetings. The best part was the assortment of free snacks

Like poor college students, we took advantage of the snack table. I went to town, especially on the brownies, chocolate chip cookies with Reese’s baked in (!!!), and the trail mix. Oh… the trail mix.

I impressed Hanah with my trail-mix-eating skills. Literally, I ate all the yogurt covered pretzels, raisins, and PB chips. And some M&Ms. Needless to say, I had a tummy ache and realized that there was no way the gym was going to happen that night. Oh well, no biggie.

Anyways, I had priorities. Those priorities were studying for economics and watching another one of my guilty pleasure shows, Hart of Dixie. I normally watch TV shows online, but I was lucky enough to watch this episode at its scheduled time on a real TV.

Even though I had lots of distractions (friends, snacks, television), I actually managed to get a ton of work done. I powered through a lot of math problems from 10-12:30 and Hanah said it was the hardest she has ever seen me study. (I swear, Mom, I’m not making this up.)

I went to bed at 2 and woke up at 8:30. I’m turning into an adult (kind of) and it is getting more difficult to sleep in. The early start was good though.

I did two loads of laundry and vacuumed our huge bedroom. We have blue carpet and ev-er-y-thing shows up on the carpet. Scraps of paper, bobby pins, and blonde hair. Oh my god. So much blonde hair. It’s nasty.

I can’t wait to be home and have full access to a washer and dryer. Using $2.25 worth of quarters per load is a bit ridiculous. Even more ridiculous- the fact that I hang my “non-dryable” clothes up on my bunkbed.

Oh well, it works!

I had some lunch and then set out for a short little run. The weather was perfect today (low-60s and overcast), so I figured I should take advantage of the conditions.

Rather than venturing downtown, I took a new path. After about two miles I reached a point of paranoia and had to head back towards campus. Better safe than sorry.

A half mile later I miraculously ended up at Starbucks. (What are the chances?!) I grabbed a venti coffee with SF hazelnut, drank half while walking back to the sorority, and then pedaled away for 40 minutes on the elliptical. After a shower, I made a snack to tide me over until dinner.

1/3 cup of oatbran, a banana, and some cinnamon… and the rest of my coffee. And now, I continue to study!

Tonight I’m going to dinner with the new members of the Trojan Dance Force. If you missed info about that, check out this post. I’m excited to have our first team meeting and get pumped for the year ahead.

Oh, by the way, Happy May!

  1. I am all with you on the poor college student front, I am always up for free stuff. People always question when I leave with pockets full of whatever but come on! And I have done the same thing with drying clothes, bed ends, dresser draws, I’ve done it all!
