Source, SF with Miranda

Did anybody else feel like this at, oh, 3 pm?
I’m usually pretty good about staying wide awake all day long, but around 3 pm I hit a wall. It might be the same wall that I hit yesterday, in fact. My tired eyes made me question if some cruel soul has been making decaf coffee in the regular machines at work. Wouldn’t that just be so mean? I drank three tiny cups of coffee today, including one right before the sleepiness washed over me. What gives?? To perk up, I turned to The Menacing Jumbo Bag of peanut m&m’s 2 feet from my desk. Ugh.
On Friday of last week, four huge bags of peanut m&m’s, life savers, and jolly ranchers appeared out of nowhere in our private meeting space. I’m sure it was meant to be a nice gesture… but, Candy Fairy (whoever you are), don’t you know that I have the will power of a 6-year-old? That ish is going to disappear, and it most definitely will NOT be because of my five coworkers! The 1st bag of m&m’s is already gone!! Whatever. At least they aren’t the peanut butter variety. I wouldn’t even try to hide my
Elsewhere on today’s snack radar were two blueberry items:
Nutrigrain bars are a recent obsession and the 2% Fage with sugary fruit stuffs have been a favorite since my last job, which stockpiled them. I’m experimenting to see which flavor tickles my fancy… I’ll report back after the Box-Behnken results are in. (Anybody know what I’m talking about?)
Guess which lunch I ate today and which one I ate yesterday:
Leftovers from Sunday’s dinner (rice and Japanese curry veggie ‘soup’) and Sunday’s lunch (roasted veggies) and grilled chicken.
TOP = Tuesday, BOTTOM = Monday. I have two more servings of this to go! Leftovers are so effing easy.
Tonight I took the Caltrain bullet up to San Francisco to meet Miranda for dinner. Did you know that Miranda, Matt, Kyle, and I placed 3rd in the mixed gender Oakland Relay event?? We each received a $25 Sports Basement gift certificate in the mail this weekend! Total surprise! :) (We already have grand plans for next year lol)
We agreed over gchat to try out SOMA’s Source, a casual vegan/vegetarian restaurant.
The menu has pinoles (sandwiches), brick oven pizzas, salads, burgers, “bow wows” (sausages), dosas, and a full set of entrees! Lots of choices that’s for sure!
Their brick oven is a statement piece, don’t ya think?
Miranda, a little blog/camera shy, agreed to split two gluten free dishes with me (she’s been gf for a while now).
Sorry about the intrusiveness ;)
Very fresh; the quinoa lacked that earthiness I sometimes dislike (double negatives, but it was a good thing).
Filling was tasty, mild spice (kick it up, Source!), light pancake/crepe/bolani feel to it.
And Miranda was game for dessert! :) She ordered a gluten free “snickers” snowball and I ordered a gluten “marble” snowball… These were not of the polar bear variety, clearly. The cashier described them as similar to cupcakes. You know I like cupcakes, right? ;)
Sugar bomb! I am glad I picked this over my first choice, a peanut butter and jelly cookie (btw that still sounds really good).
The snowball is an interesting concept – you don’t have to get all fussy with the cupcake decorations and frosting design. Still just as tasty, too. Plus, who doesn’t want the frosting stretching down the sides of the cake?
Source is remarkably close to the AT&T ballpark. If you’re catching a game or meeting someone for dinner and need to stay close to Caltrain, I would definitely recommend it. There are a ton of options and it’s easy to see how much the staff cares about getting it “right.” The manager came over to check on us and offered to split our plates since we were clearly sharing.
Thanks for meeting me for dinner, Miranda! It’s always fun catching up with you. Can you please come be my coworker again? I miss you in the office!!
Welp, my train ride is almost done….
As soon as I’m back in Mountain View, I am dragging my snowball-m&m bootay to the gym for a decent run and speedy version of LiveFit day 30′s chest/abs!
Question: Favorite m&m flavor? Do you like Nutrigrain bars? (I used to associate them with snacks ooooold people ate)

OK that place looks insanely good. I need to try this :) You need to try the Luna Fiber Blueberry Vanilla bars – they’re just like Nutrigrain but tastier! Personally the Apple Cinnamon Nutrigrain was always my weakness. And Pretzel M&Ms. Ohhhh my goodness they’re so addicting!

I like the idea of the snowballs. Less mussing and fussing, more frosting. Great concept, Source.
And while the pretzel M&Ms are usually my go-to, my ABSOLUTE favorite indulgence in the M&M family would be the peanut butter ones. I actively mourn the fact that I can’t find crunchy M&Ms as well.

Omg peanut M&Ms are my absolute weakness! My Grandma just sent me one of those huge bags (along with my other weakness- frosted animal cookies) and I am trying to stay away from them! Dangerous to have on hand! And that restaurant looks amazing! I really want to try it! That butternut squash crepe looks fantastic and snowballs sound great! Adding to the list!
