On Saturday morning I prepped for Megan’s bridal shower.

Raisin Bran, Urban Decay, Benefit. Ready set go!

I could hardly believe that it was already time for her bridal shower! When she first told me about her engagement and asked me to a bridesmaid, I was still at my old-old-job! tempus fugit, am I right?

Her maid of honor, Kristin, did a wonderful job organizing and hosting the “tea party” themed bridal shower. Without her, this shower would have never come together as well as it did! She sent out the invites weeks ago, hosted the party in her parents’ gorgeous backyard, found tables/chairs/mimosa supplies ;) and got the rest of us to collaborate through emails and text messages.

Once each bridesmaid had a task to tackle, the shower fell into place as easy as pie. :) Paula picked out all the decorations, Diana and Stassie took charge creating a crafty cookbook (full of recipes from Megan’s nearest and dearest), and I organized the shower games (more on that later). One of Megan’s family friends graciously provided the tea and food – all delicious and homemade.

Here are a handful of pictures with a few captions to narrate Megan’s special day…

After setting up the food, tables, chairs (etc etc), guests arrived. We mingled about, served mimosas, and then sat down for tea and a light lunch of chicken salad croissants with special tea from Bungalow Tea in Santa Rosa (if I remember correctly!). Cindy also made scones, clotted cream, lemon curd, baguette with brie and almonds, and dessert….

There’s the bride-to-be!

Each place setting included a glass plate, tea cup, favor bag with tea bags, and two handouts with three games…

The How Well Do You Know The Bride? game included questions, like: What sport did Megan play in high school? Where did Megan study abroad? What is Megan’s favorite song of all time? There was also a Wedding Word Scramble game (ex. badsudhnwenfai = ‘husband and wife’) and a fill in the blank area to match the Famous Female to each male (Selena Gomez to Justin Bieber and Elizabeth Bennet to Fitzwilliam Darcy of Pride and Prejudice).

While we played games, guests enjoyed mini chocolate tarts with a walnut brittle and mini cheesecakes with a raspberry garnish. Cindy, the brains behind the food, lived in France for 20 years and went to pastry school while there. Point is, her food was exquisite!

We continued to play two more bridal shower games. There’s one I am super excited to tell you about and I think you should use the idea at YOUR next bridal shower.

The He Said, She Said game idea came from Fran’s blog post about Jess’ bridal shower. I modified it a bit and gave each guest a stick with two flags – pink AOII for Megan, blue SAE for Paul. I found Megan and Paul’s Facebook wall conversation history for the quotes. (!!!!!) I would read a line from their wall posts and guests raised either the blue SAE flag if they thought Paul said it or the pink AOII flag if they thought Megan said it. Too funny!

The Groom Interview game was super simple. Paul diligently answered a bunch of questions via email before the bridal shower. One of the flower girls, Juliana, helped me out with this game (so adorable) and asked Megan the same question I asked Paul. Megan had to guess his answer. She did a great job!

After games, it was time for gifts! Each guest filled out a Bingo sheet with what they thought Megan would open. If a gift Megan unwrapped was on your Bingo sheet, you could check it off. The first to [almost] reach Bingo won a bottle of champagne!

Wasn’t the weather perfect? Megan looked beeeeautiful and I think she had a great time! After saying goodbye to the guests, washing dishes, and cleaning everything up, it was time for a …

Exactly 2 months to the bachelorette party and 3 months to the wedding!!!

p.s. this is Megan’s favorite song of all time:

What’s yours?
