Vegas Day 3
Posted by Nicole
Phew!!! I just got to the airport and am feeling mighty relieved. Let’s recap the end of the trip…
Last night, after getting dolled up and taking silly pictures in the hotel suite, we headed down to the dance intensive’s cocktail party. The party didn’t have dinner, which was kind of a bummer, but it was fun to dress and up and see the other teams outside of dance clothes. We were all super hungry though, so we didn’t stay too long…
Back in the hotel, we snacked and watched the Olympics and practiced routines and packed up our bags and… eventually fell asleep at midnight. Waking up at 6, dancing for 5 hours, memorizing two dances (for me- straight arm jazz and hip hop), and dealing with Vegas heat sure tired us out!
This morning, we woke up nice and early to put on full dance makeup and curl our locks. After some oatmeal and a granola bar, it was dancing time. We learned our third and fourth routines (I chose jazz and another hip hop), and then broke for lunch. PS learning an entire dance with formations and specific style in 1.5 hours is a mental challenge! After lunch (same Earl of Samdwich veggie sandwich that I ordered yesterday), we went back to dancing. We reviewed each of the four dances and then got ready for the showcase. In total, about 20 dances were offered at the intensive, and we split our team up so we could learn most of them. For basketball season, we will teach the dances to each other.
Anyways, back to the showcase… The performances went well :) I’m truly amazed at the talent that everyone at the dance camp had! Collegiate and Pro teams do not mess around. It was a great environment and a nice challenge!
Though I wish the trip wasn’t over, my neck/shoulders/back/hips/legs cannot take anymore dancing. Ten hours of full-out dancing in two days = rough! And guess who has to run a half marathon this upcoming weekend…… This girl!!!!!
Some pics…
^^^ We were just a little stressed about performing the fourth routine that we learned haha. All in all, this was such a fun trip. The girls on the team are very fun, energetic, and talented. I know that this year is going to be amazing and I will be looking forward to all the strenuous hours at practice… It’s easy to do when you are spending time with super cool ladies! (That was cheesy, but it’s so true.)
Now it’s back to the daily grind. Spending an entire Monday dancing in Vegas sure was a nice change of routine, though!
