3rd day in a row!

Last night I did two awesome things all within one city block:
1. Ate dinner with my old coworker Miranda
2. Attended the Giants vs. Rockies game.
I know, I know…. We have been blogging a lot about sports games lately. But I don’t have any more games for a while (especially considering the abysmal state of the NHL lockout grrr).
On Monday after work I headed up to San Francisco on Caltrain. I love taking Caltrain! No traffic! Miranda and I were overdue for a dinner hangout (totally my fault) and so we went with her sushi recommendation, conveniently located near the ballpark.
Considering the fact that food gets more expensive the closer you are to the ballpark, I thought Nama Sushi had some decent prices. While catching up on work, weddings, blogs, and the like, we enjoyed three sushi rolls: TnT, Caterpillar, and Alaska.
Miranda and I briefly talked about the difficulty of work/life/training balance… I’m not sure how she manages a multi-city commute, full time job, being a part time student, applying to grad schools, planning a wedding, AND training for all of her races. Bike, run, swim, oh my! Next time I want to hit ‘snooze,’ I’ll think of her badassness and crawl out of the covers with my game face on. Or try to at least…
We finished up just as Kyle’s train arrived in the city. I stopped at Starbucks for a grande coffee before meeting him in Safeway to buy game snacks. Speaking of $tarbucks, did you see their gold card email?!
I’m really going to miss the free syrups and I was just getting used to always asking for soy. Bummertown. However, it will be nice to earn free drinks at a faster rate and have them preloaded. It’s a bit more green, too!
Anywho… The game!
Why were we there? Besides Brandon Crawford? ;) Because it was one of the three “Runner’s Night” dates available for Giant Race participants to buy discounted tickets!
Yes, that is a polar bear not a panda. Sorry Sandoval.
We snacked on grapes and goldfish….
While the game wasn’t as high scoring as last Wednesday’s 3-8 loss, we did keep the Rockies at bay 2-1. A 3-run win is way better than an 11-run loss!
After a college football game, NFL game, and MLB game, my throat is shot. I drank lots of water today and avoided caffeine so hopefully I’ll feel better tomorrow! Please don’t tell me spicy Indian food at lunch was a bad idea for a head cold.
My coworker asked me to join him at a really authentic, hidden, Indian restaurant in Sunnyvale – their lamb vindaloo was just…. perfect! We also split a basket of garlic naan and chana masala. MMM.
Question: Do you use the Starbucks gold card reward system? What do you think of the changes?
