We need to pop in really quickly and give a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to our Aunt Patty. She just completed her goal of running a marathon in every state!!!! She set the goal exactly 12 years ago and finished today at the Niagara Falls Marathon.

In Georgia she ran in freezing rain for four hours, in Colorado she ran up Pike’s Peak and back down, in New Mexico she ran through blowing desert sands, in Kansas she ran across the finish line as the first female finisher, in Massachusetts she ran THE Boston marathon, in New Jersey she ran her personal best 3:34…. and in the 44 other states she added to her total marathon mile total: 1,300 miles!!

N: She is sponsored by the Michelob Ultra Running Team (hey Michelob, if you want another rep we are happy to help) and is one of 100 long-distance runners crisscrossing the USA. She is such an inspiration!

L: When I was 14 or so, I distinctly remember spending time at our Aunt Patty’s house thinking she was a nutcase for running more than 20 miles in Illinois’ humidity. She would come home from training runs with bugs stuck to her skin, beaming. She was the first marathoner I ever met and I have a hunch that her running bug infected the rest of our family…

N: Patty is a great example of setting tough goals, training hard, and passionately following through. Another thing we love about her – she loves sweets just as much as we do!

Once again, AWESOME JOB PATTY!

Question: What do your family members inspire you to do? What are your long term [running] goals?
