When it rains, it POURS!

Note: I started this post Monday night and literally fell asleep while writing it. Whoops!
After work on Monday I stopped by the gym to mooch off the free cable and watch Game 7 of the NLCS. In case you aren’t a SF Giants fan (we all can’t be, I understand) you might just want to skip over a few photos in this post. I don’t want any Cardinals fans to start crying.
I kept myself busy while at the gym, but kept my eyes glued to the television.
| Scheduled | Completed | |
| Friday | Tina’s strength workout 3C and easy 3 miles | 30 minute tempo run: 7.5 min warmup/cooldown at 7.4mph/8:06min and 15 min tempo at 8.4mph/7:09min |
| Saturday | rest :) | Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Tina’s strength workout 3C |
| Sunday | 1.5 hour long run with last 25% at race pace, Tina’s strength workout 4A | Could NOT run. I blame this. I cut back my long run to 30 minutes, followed by 30 minutes on the elliptical |
| Monday | treadmill hike and Tina’s strength workout 4B | 20 minute treadmill run, Tina’s strength workout 4A+4B, 20 minute treadmill hike |
Didn’t really follow the plan, but proud of what I accomplished.
Sweet Spot: Back to back strength workouts on Monday night was a breeze thanks to the Giants game – it made the time fly by during something I usually dread!
Sticky Spot: Tina’s circuit strength workout (3C) kicked my butt! I’ve been sore for days! When will squats NOT curse my body?
Afterwards, I met Kyle in downtown Mountain View to watch the 7th-9th innings and grab some food. The only good thing about the place we chose was the fact they had TVs.
191 Restaurant and Bar needs to go away. They are wasting valuable downtown MV real estate. The service is SLOWWW. I saw about 5 people get up and confront the waitress to get a check so they could leave. The food is BAD. It was more than underwhelming, it was dismal. The decor is ok, but I’m not sure how much of that is leftover from when this place was Kapp’s Pizza.
I shoulda known, Yelp, I shoulda known.
I ordered the 191 Tri-Tip Sandwich – sirloin tri-tip sliced thin, grilled onions, mayo, jalapeno jack cheese, and soft roll with a side of SWEET potato fries. After what seemed like 50 minutes, I caught the attention of the waitress/bartender and asked her when the sandwich would be ready. She “checked on it” and said “just a few minutes.”
Then she came back with this: (took the picture after eating a few bites)
I’m sorry but wha???? Maybe I’m spoiled with the tri-tip sandwiches from Firestone’s, but this was just measly. 1. Definitely not sirloin tri-tip. 2. Definitely not the soft roll I envisioned. 3. Definitely NOT sweet potato fries. Her excuse for the uber long delay? “Oh they were out of sweet potato fries that’s why it was taking so long. Hope normal fries are OK.” There are so many reasons why that excuse doesn’t work, but I’ll end my rant right now. Just don’t ever go there. Unless you’re this guy:
Speaking of guys holding things………. Here’s one of Sergio Romo, holding a baseball, about to throw the final pitch!
OMINOUS.
Mother Nature emanated the palpable 9th-inning-tension, pouring sheets of heavy rain onto the field. Would the ref dare call the game? The slow motion shots almost gave me goosebumps (or it was just cold?). Cain’s RBI single, Pence’s triple-hit shattering bat, Scutaro opening his mouth to drink the pouring rain – I loved every minute of it! Now the Giants take on Detroit, and honestly I’m scared. Their stats are menacing.
Before returning to my car, I stopped at Yoogl for a bowl of pumpkin and cookies n’ cream froyo. Overpriced, but I’m happy I grabbed some!
Question: Would you stay to watch the last inning of a regular season baseball game in POURING rain? I doubt I would for a regular season game since I’m such a weather wimp, but you bet I’d stay for all of a post season game! That being said, if anyone has an extra World Series ticket….. ;)
