Sunny Ski Day
Posted by Lauren
Happy Sunday everybody! I hope you are all enjoying the weekend :)
Kyle and I are on our way back home from Tahoe, so I’m taking advantage of the 4 hour drive and typing up this post on the trusty WordPress mobile app. Hopefully he doesn’t mind a little silence while I recap our fun weekend at the cabin!
After the ski lesson on Friday, we opened a growler of Russian River Brewing Co’s Pliny the Elder. Man, that stuff is good. More and more cabinmates showed up, and we all sat down to a lovely pasta and meatball dinner…
Sometime between rounds of Quarters and Up Chicken Down Chicken, Luke asked me if I was still blogging. When I said yes, his reaction:
“You need to stop blogging.” -Luke
No thanks, I like it too much. ;)
We all woke up early Saturday morning and found something to eat for breakfast. I had a peanut butter and banana waffle and 2 clementines. Lucky me, snagged the last frozen waffle!
Everyone skied at Squaw – but – once again we did not bump into any of our cabinmates! We did, however, spend the day skiing with a few friends renting a cabin in Tahoe City (Kit, Adrienne, Sallie, Aaron….etc) and two of my coworkers (Aman and Olivia).
Pause for an Instagram moment…..
It was absolutely gorgeous out. I feel like I keep saying that when I write about our ski days…. but it’s true!! We’re bound to get a freezing, snowy day soon, but I’ll take these blue skies any day! After a handful of runs down Siberia, Shirley, and Emigrant, we agreed it was time for lunch – BBQ in the parking lot!
Kit + crew brought a grill and propane tank so that we could all enjoy some hot dogs and grilled asparagus. Yum! Aaron heated up two cans of chili, and started building chili dogs …. I split one with Kyle and it was goooood. In between handfuls of jalapeño Kettle Chips, parmesan Goldfish, and Sun Chips, I spent quality time with Adrienne’s stick.
Ohhhhh gooooodddneesss. My calf muscles = tender meat. Hurt so good.
After lunch, Kyle and I skied with Olivia and Aman (my coworkers). We discovered really nice parts of Granite Chief and tried to take a group photo. Kind of a success?
After a full day of skiing, we ALL grouped up at the legendary Le Chamois for après ski! We lucked out and found an empty booth inside (and then proceeded to successfully squeeze 16 people into it!). I foresee many more Le Chamois afternoons this Spring :)
Although Aman and Olivia were staying in a cabin the opposite direction of ours, we convinced them to drive to Truckee and hang out with us some more. :) A few cabinmates fell in love with the strong margaritas at Casa Baeza (aka Casa Blackout), so we chose that for dinner. The margs weren’t anything special, but the food hit the I’m-really-hungry spot.
Please note that Aman was caught taking photos of his food. It’s not just me!
After dinner, we went back to our cabin and played a few humorous rounds of Cards Against Humanity before calling it a night!
Question: How did you spend your Saturday? Anyone else hit the slopes? Or enjoy a margarita? ;)

I am SO envious of your skiing adventures!! I’ve never been skiing before, but it sounds so amazing, and the slopes at Tahoe look so pretty!! My Saturday didn’t involve any slopes, but it DID involve a margarita ;)

Haha you got busted blogging!
Um, that Instagram pic is incredible.
Not gonna lie, I’m kinda jealous about your ski trips. They always look like a party all the cool kids are at. ;)

haha you went to Casa Baeza!
Looks like a great weekend! Mine was much less exciting. On Saturday I did tons of chores, and then watched a movie. Luckily, I went on a beautiful hike in Pt. Reyes on Sunday to make up for my lame Saturday. :)

Whoa. You had an exciting, fun filled Saturday!! Love seeing the pictures of snow and skiing. I haven’t been up in that region in years. Well, the closest I get is Loomis, and the last time I skiied, I got tangled in the chair lift when it sat down, so they had to stop it. My Saturday was spent indoors painting at the studio and the 4 hours at the yoga studio face planting :)
