Thyme To Eat + Half Moon Bay

Let’s back it up to Thursday night, aka Valentines Day dinner at Thyme to Eat in Palo Alto…. Hey that guy on the mural kinda looks like Cupid!
5 years ago Kyle and I went on our first date to CPK, 2 years ago it was Pizza My Heart, last year we picked a small Mexican place called La Morenita… I’d say in all our time dining out side-by-side, this Persian restaurant had some of the most unique food I (we?) have ever tried.
We couldn’t decide between the garlic yogurt and the babaganoush, so the owner gave us 1/2 of each. He was such a sweet guy and explained his favorites on the menu as soon as we sat down.
Best babbaganoush around… even better than DishDash!
We also split the following:
Zereshk – tangy organic berries with basmati saffron rice and free range chicken.
Fesenjoon – organic pomegranate-walnut paste with special spices on all natural, beef meatballs and basmati rice.
These meatballs!!!!!! So crazy. There were about 23 different flavors going on in the sauce (just like Dr. Pepper’s magic recipe), but I couldn’t pick out a single one. I was confused by the meatballs. But also, very, very happy we ordered them.
After dinner we stopped at RedBox and picked up Pitch Perfect. I had no idea the movie was going to be so funny! We shared a bag of peach rings for dessert during the acca-hit and called it a night!
Friday night – I spent hours playing around with our new blog theme. It’s not done yet. Beta mode forever….
Saturday afternoon – quick trip to Half Moon Bay with Kyle!
I’ve never actually been to HMB… despite growing up in the Bay Area. I know, fail. I guess it is because we always went to Monterey Bay instead? Anywho… It was beautiful out! I put on my first dress of 2013 for the occasion…
We walked over to Half Moon Bay Brewing Co and darted directly to the back of the restaurant. There’s a small, extra patio in the back and on this particular Saturday, HMBBC had a special event for SF Beer Week.
They celebrated the release of three seasonal “Mavericks Session” brews with live music and free tastings, quesadillas, and beerimisu!
The “light enough to have one or two and still go out for a surf sesh at Mavericks” beer:
Pace Setter (belgian style wit) and Back In The Saddle (rye pale ale)
The complimentary beerimisu! :)
I had a craving for onion rings, so we ordered these buttermilk-battered ones. And then we took advantage of the free quesadillas…. Win-Win situation.
We strolled around the beach for a little bit and then headed back home to make a real dinner. More on that later….
GOOD LUCK to everyone running a race tomorrow, especially Nicole, my mom, and David!!!

Love the half moon brew co esp on a sunny day!! Also check out la nebbia winery sometime. Bring empty wine bottles and they fill them for $5!!
And you’re the 3rd person I’ve heard say pitch perfect is funny so now I gotta see it!
La Nebbia is awesome! Waiting for spring and warmer weather for that.
