Santa Monica and the LAST GAME!
Posted by Nicole
Ugh, Monday. This week has me really stressed about my accounting final (it’s a 2-unit class so the final is halfway through the semester), two midterms next week, and a few looming group projects. Because I’m going to be home in San Jose this weekend, I really need to focus on preparing for all of next week’s exams.
Because school is stressful and I’d rather think happy thoughts, I’m going to recap a few highlights from the weekend. LA weather is finally getting to be consistently warm, and I’m taking full advantage! On Friday, I went with one of the dance captains to Santa Monica. We picked up Jamba Juice smoothies and food and parked ourselves on the beach.
March is my favorite month of the year, and this was the perfect way to spend March 1st.
My plans of reading my accounting textbook on the beach didn’t really happen, but it sure felt good to just relax in the sun. And surprisingly, the beach wasn’t too crowded. It was great.
We drove back to campus at about 4 and found a surprising amount of day drinking on The Row. Snappa games in the middle of the street? Sure, why not. Luckily, I didn’t run over any frat boys while weaving through the street.
The rest of Friday was spent lounging around and doing some homework. I went to bed early so I would be fully rested for Saturday morning’s early wake-up call.
Saturday was the last basketball game of the season and we had to be at the Galen Center at 9:45 AM. Hence the early wake up to curl hair and put on a few pounds of makeup. Because this was the last game we would be dancing at, our team was pretty relaxed and just enjoying our last game together. We took a ton of pictures before the game and then it was time to hit the court.
Luckily, our men’s bball team managed to stay ahead of the Arizona State University Sundevils for the entire game. It got really close at the end, but our team ended up winning 57-56. Talk about a great way to end the season!
Our coach told us to “leave everything on the court” during our dances and I’m pretty sure we killed our final routines of the year ;)
We only have one senior on the team this year and I’m hoping that most of the team members re-tryout in April. We’ve built a great team and I’ll be sad if things completely change for next year’s team. Anyways, it’s gonna be weird not seeing these girls for 10+ hours per week! I’m gonna miss them.
We did one last “1, 2, 3, force!” with our coach…
… and that was it!
Today is my first Monday not having dance practice. It’s sad, but also convenient considering my extensive to-do list. Time to get studying!

Ahh going to the beach in March… man I miss LA sometimes. My roommate and I used to pretend we were going to study on the beach too- we even bought beach chairs to help facilitate it… but it still never happened haha. Congrats on your last performance of the year! Looks like it went great! PS did you cut your hair?? It looks super cute!

The beach looks AMAZING! I spent the weekend in Santa Barbara on the beach too, but it wasn’t as warm there. Aw that’s sad dance season is over! I loved reading all the updates throughout the year. I miss my dance team girls back home too!! I feel like dance teams spend insane amounts of time together…hahaha. Good luck on all your midterms!
