HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY NICOLE!

Someone is all grown up today!

That cutie patootie is now TWENTY ONE!

Finally!

Nicole is one special girl. I’m so lucky to have her as my sister and, more importantly, my best friend. When we were younger, Nicole and I would play all the time. Play school (I loved to teach her Spanish and algebra… y=mx+b!). Play work (little sis = my assistant). Create dances (“Who Let the Dogs Out”). Jump on the trampoline. Play tetherball (she was the only person I could beat and I needed the self-confidence boost). Pretend we were on cooking shows. Pretend we were house-cleaning elves (and then charge our parents for straightening up, HA!). We were so silly and had wild imaginations.

The majority of our childhood I wanted to be right by Nicole’s side (exhibit A: above photo) and I didn’t care about our age difference because she was just so dang fun to be around. Don’t get me wrong, we definitely had moments that give new meaning to sibling rivalry! (p.s. sorry for whipping you with a Ribbon Dancer that one time) When I went off to college, before the dawn of smartphones and the demise of Myspace, Nicole and I had trouble keeping in touch. Sure, she was in my Top 8, but I think she kept me on her Top 16. (You know what I’m talking about, Myspacers). She was crazy busy with high school and dance team, but we always managed to catch up some how – usually through instant messenger and iChat. Fast forward to today when we’re always on the phone, texting, emailing, and even snapchatting each other. Oh, and we’ve got this blog too. ;) I wouldn’t have it any other way!

I think I just went off on a tangent, but the point I want to make in this post is that I’m so excited Nicole is home for her 21st birthday! She’s now of legal drinking age – which means we can transform “play” time into many new things: wine tasting, beer festivals, VEGAS, brewery tours, happy hours, bar hopping, Oktoberfests…. so many options!

And countertops full of champagne, of course!
