7 days ago, the Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z show was about to start in SF…
More on that later…
Krizia and I rocked out for 3+ hours and then (Mom: close your eyes) we drove to Orange County!! After a 1 am pit stop at In n Out, we switched off driving/napping and made it to our friend Kerry’s house at 7 am! It really wasn’t that bad…. right, Krish?
We cuddled with Kerry until 11 am and then crawled out of bed with the promise of waffles and mimosas haha
Kerry’s boyfriend, Matt, came over and made us pumpkin waffles – what a great guy!! Kerry scrambled some eggs like a pro and then we all went outside to eat on the picnic table in her backyard. Talk about a perfect morning :)
We changed out of our pajamas and drove 1 minute to a small craft brewery right next to Kerry’s house. Talk about convenient.
Valiant Brewing Co‘s tasting room is open Thursday and Friday from 5-9 pm and on Saturday from 12-9 pm. Their “about us” story is definitely unique (husband and wife mechanical engineers that love drag-racing and camping). We all picked a sampler for $7…
Free pretzels = happy Lauren
Hanging out with college roomies = really happy Lauren
Then things got REAL fun.
The reason we drove 7 hours to Orange County in the middle of the night was to surprise Fran at her dance show! She’s been a member of the Fuse Modern Dance Company for a while now and those of us that live in northern CA haven’t had a chance to watch her show. So…. Kerry dropped Krish and me off at an ice cream place and then went to pick up Fran. When they walked into the ice cream place, Fran was definitely shocked to see us! Surprises are so fun!
We caught up for a while at Frostbites (italian ice + frozen custard = amazing) and then went to Fran’s house so she could pack up for the dance show. I guess that means Fran packs and we relax…
Next up: dinner!
Krish, Kerry, Sheryline, and I went to The Deli News in Long Beach and split a large pizza with 3 toppings $12 after tax!!! Such a good deal! Plus, they have this sweet mural of … Venice?
NOM NOM NOM …
And then it was time for the dance show! If you want to watch an amazing preview, click here (not sure if video embedding works with Vimeo).
Picture from Fran’s beautiful solo…
And a shot of all the dancers during the bow…
Krizia, Kerry, Fran, Sheryline, Kathleen, me
And the rest of her supporters (guy on the right was in my dorm just down the hall!)
After the show we joined the dancers at Yard House for some chow. FYI the tomato soup and grilled cheese that Fran ordered is the bomb and the next time I go to YH I’m totally copying her order. I chose the guac and chips and shared with Kerry and Kathleen in exchange for some hummus and shrimp ceviche. #smorgasbord
The show was amazing and I’m so happy we had a chance to see Fran in her element. She was born to dance and one day she’ll listen to me and try out for So You Think You Can Dance and I’ll be like “I told you so” when she wins it all.
