Lots of stuff has happened in the past 6 days! This post is picture-heavy. I-must-get-on-a-consistent-blogging-schedule.
My mom continues to ask how my studies are going. Look Mom, here is a picture of me studying!! This was for a strategic management quiz on Wednesday.
After a few crashed attempts, I finally updated to iOS 7 and I looooooooove it. It’s cool that a new OS update can make your phone feel brand new… even if your phone screen is cracked like mine.
I went out on Thursday night with the sorority sistas. It was angels and devils and I almost sorta dressed to theme.
I went to my sorority’s semiformal on Friday night with a group of 13 girls and their dates. All 28 of us went to dinner at Maria’s Italian Kitchen for caesar salads and pizza. We had quite the entourage. Then we back to a friend’s apartment and eventually to the invite venue in Hollywood.
My date was a set-up and lots of fun! I had a great time.
On Saturday, I dragged my tired self to the USC vs. Utah State University football game. I came about 20 minutes late to the game, but was lucky to snag a seat with friends in the third row.
It was a 12:30 game and ridiculously hot like always. I wanted to leave at halftime, but was convinced to stay until the end.
And then I was convinced to stay even after the end for the post-game band concert. They played about 5 songs facing the student section and it was SO COOL. I can’t believe it took me until midseason senior year to stay for the band concert. The energy/spirit was awesome… I’m sure it helped that we won 17-14.
On Sunday, I woke up nice and early to meet Lauren and Kyle in Pasadena. From their hotel, we carpooled to our grandpa’s house in Glendora.
Our cousin was outside working on one of his two giant mud trucks. Those things are huge!
Then we gave Kyle a tour of the house, garage, and old car shop. Our grandparents’ house is full of antiques, knick-knacks, and lots of old motorcycles/cars….. and old pictures.
This motorcycle is from 1911:
The horseless carriage in the background is a Thomas Flyer from 1910:
After looking around, our cousin took me for a ride through the Glendora suburbs in his new Camaro. That thing goes FAST.
And we got to spend some quality time with our Grandpa. He is the sweetest, most smiley guy ever.
We left in the early afternoon because Lauren and Kyle had to hit the road back to NorCal. Before they took off, we ate at Tender Greens in Pasadena.
We chose salads instead of the giant cookies and cupcakes they had on display. I got the “Happy Vegan” that had delicious quinoa, couscous, hummus, and wheatberry mixes underneath a layer of “tender greens.” Lauren got a kale salad with tuna steaks.
The meal totally hit the spot. I would definitely go back to Tender Greens for the exact same dish.
After saying goodbye to my two best friends (Lauren likes to say that her, Kyle, and me are BFFs), I went to downtown Pasadena for a bit of shopping. I try not to shop too much when I’m at school and it sure helps that the closest mall is ~30 minutes in traffic away from USC. I figured I might as well take advantage of the downtown shops. Random pic of the cool alleyway graffiti:
I got back to school around 3, did homework, took a 2 hour nap (I think I really needed it), did more homework, and then went to the gym. I ran 2 slow miles. That’s the furthest I have run SINCE JULY 20.
I’m going to try and run a little bit more over the next four weeks so I don’t feel super wiped out during the LA Rock ‘n Roll Half.
Time to head to class. Have a great Monday!
