8 weeks ago…. I just stopped blogging for no good reason at all.

It was just before the Stagecoach country music festival in Palm Springs. I had a great time with a few of my favorite college girlfriends and fell in love with cowboy boots…

The following week, Kyle’s parents came to town (more on that later!) and I pretended to be a news anchor for a spoof video my company put together….

Then I saw this really good deal on peanut butter (this is something blogger Lauren circa 2010 would care about so I’m including it)….

20140617-004042-2442633.jpg

Meanwhile, Kyle and I kept up our weekly date nights with stuff like spicy Indian food at Darbar and a night at the theatre (watching a play put on by two of my high school friends (so talented!!))

And then…. IT HAPPENED.

Don’t freak out. Nicole and I didn’t decide to move to Canada or anything….

I’m talking about Pulse 2014, one of the defining moments for the Customer Success Industry.

Sorry, I’ll stop being dramatic.

Our company’s annual conference was a big success this year, and I couldn’t be more proud of the team I’m a part of, the company, and everyone else who helped make it so amazing….

NEW YORK CITY!!!

It’s been a while but if you made it this far, thank you for reading :) I’ll be back soon! I think I found my mojo….

Waiting in line for my newest obsession

20140419-104019.jpg

Posted by Lauren

Don’t tell my Stabucks gold card, but I’m waiting in line right now for a cop of joe from Philz Coffee… They do single drip and it’s a splurge and the line is always sooo long. Why am I here?

Well….

On Wednesday our Marketing team went on a little road trip from Mountain View to San Francisco to check out the venue for our upcoming conference.

20140419-102637.jpg

20140419-102650.jpg

I got a little snapchat happy as you can see. :) On our way back to the office, Anthony had the wise idea to get coffee so we stopped at Philz. Unlike Starbs where you have 3 generic brew options, Philz is like the 31 Flavors Baskin Robbins of coffee. I got the Philtered Soul (I love anything hazelnut) and it really hit the spot. We were all wired after!!

Other weekly highlights:

Saturday – long hike with mom and Nicole!

20140419-103243.jpg

Sunday – Kyle bought us a grill! Now we need a little table and chairs to complete the patio. Summer BBQs are on the way!

20140419-103413.jpg

Monday – Nicole came to work at Gainsight. She makes my work days extra happy.

20140419-103422.jpg

Monday/Tuesday – our dad turned one year older on Monday so we celebrated his birthday Tuesday night at the fish market. :)

20140419-103436.jpg

Tuesday – Nicole and I went to lunch at Chipotle. As a part owner of Chipotle, it makes me smile that Nicole loves Chipotle so much (in fact she JUST sent me a screenshot of a burrito bowl lol).

20140419-103529.jpg

Wednesday – we filmed the cutest video to promote our upcoming conference. You should watch it :) And, if you work with any Customer Success, Account Managers, renewals, client services, relationship managers, strategic account peeps you should tell them to go!! /end-plug

Thursday – beautiful evening run through Palo Alto. People are killin’ it with the blossoming flowers. I felt like I was running through a yummy garden the whole time.

20140419-103855.jpg

Friday – Bar class after work, ran around the Stanford track, and then caught up on Scandal on Hulu. Hot Damn! What a finale….

Saturday – enjoying my coffee… gotta get ready for a day in the city!

What was the highlight of your week???

I went to the Capital!!

20140318-181956.jpg

Posted by Lauren

Last Wednesday I flew to Washington DC with my mom and stepdad.

20140318-181906.jpg

My tropical bag with dolphins and toucans certainly was ironic considering the 9* weather we were greeted with.

I want to write a detailed post about everything we did, but I’ll get all “veni vidi vici” on you with a little preview…

We saw the necessary sights

20140318-181619.jpg

20140318-181720.jpg

We ate at the hottest spots

20140318-181743.jpg

We ran the streets with 20,00+ people

20140318-181810.jpg

And we indulged our sweet tooth…. every meal basically :)

20140318-181935.jpg

Recaps to come once I’m caught up with work a bit!

Question: Have you ever been to DC? What was your favorite thing to see? What would you like to see if you’ve never been before?

The Sea, Happy Birthday Mom!

20140303-153714.jpg

Posted by Lauren

Early Saturday morning I was supposed to go with my mom and David to Los Angeles. We were supposed to go to Nicole’s final dance performance. BUT, our flight was randomly and annoyingly cancelled. Weather wasn’t really an issue, and Virgin America didn’t give a reason for the cancellation. No fun.

We turned our frowns upside down with an ahmayyyyzing dinner at THE SEA by Alexander’s Steakhouse in Palo Alto to celebrate my mom’s birthday.

20140303-153731.jpg

Kyle filled Nicole’s shoes (he has small feet ;) and joined us at the “bay area’s premier seafood dining destination. The restaurant distinguishes itself by focusing on rich sumptuous morsels from the sea, prepared with modern technique and flair. Chef Yu Min Lin blends contemporary cuisine with Japanese sensibility and ingredients to transform The Sea’s menu into the extraordinary.

This was my first ultra chic tasting menu experience and I am HOOKED. Now I just need to win the lotto.

Unlimited bread – I stuck with the perfect furikake / sesame seed-topped croissants. Rumor has it they import the dough from France. I believe it. The waiter promised us a bag of these to-go since it was my mom’s birthday and all. Either he forgot or he was kidding, either way I’m sad and croissant-less.

20140303-153809.jpg

Smoked Salmon Gruyere Amuse-Bouche – compliments of the chef :)

20140303-153819.jpg

Live Scallop (Wild Maine) with black truffle, celery, olive oil
To be honest, I thought to myself, nothing could get better than this. Fresh, yet earthy. I was wrong, it did get better…

20140303-153826.jpg

Hamachi Tataki (Kumamoto Japan) with citrus soy, fresh wasabi creme fraiche, arare
The bite size rice gave an unexpected crunch + the wasabi was heavenly with the silky hamachi

20140303-153832.jpg

I avoided pictures of the champagne, savennieres, vouvray sec, etc (do I even know what I’m typing? no!) but I had to snap a quick picture of this German wine. It was in a circular green bottle — never seen anything like it! (We opted for the food + wine pairing)

20140303-153846.jpg

Seppia (Wild Spain) with cauliflower, truffle, uni, tomato, chives
Another mermaid mac n cheese moment, this was simply divine.

20140303-153855.jpg

Black Cod (Wild Monterey) with bell pepper miso, lobster, trumpet mushroom, bonito
The star of the show… I really just did NOT want this dish to end. Each bit was indulgent and well balanced. MISO LOVE YOU.

Speaking of love… check out these two love birds cheers-ing to my beautiful mama’s birthday.

20140303-153904.jpg

Back to the food!

20140303-153916.jpg

Halibut…. info not on website.
In my opinion, this was dish left the most to be desired (they say that on Chopped, right?). The halibut was well done, so I relied heavily on the sauces for pizzazz.

20140303-153925.jpg

Tajima F1 Beef with corn, shiitake mushroom, spinach, carrot
WOWWWW this was just right. As the final dish before dessert, the tender Tajima totally won me over. Not sure about those powder thingys though.

20140303-153934.jpg

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! Thanks for inviting us along to such a special dinner!

20140303-153940.jpg

20140303-153947.jpg

Wait… there’s more food :)

20140303-154000.jpg

Pecorino cheese with passion fruit, quince, almond, crostini
My only complaint… want more cheese!

20140303-154008.jpg

Chocolate PB with peanut butter, blackberry, honey ice cream
It’s like they knew I was coming! For someone who is obsessed with all things peanut butter, this was a playful, scrumptious way to end the night.

But wait, there’s more!

20140303-154015.jpg

Each table gets an 18-inch spool of lime cotton candy, strawberry bon bons, and pineapple cracker/cake.

How fun is that!?

20140303-154024.jpg

We all had an amazing time and spent over 4 hours dining at our table. This was a once in a lifetime experience (that I hope to repeat at other restaurants on special occasions :) and I will never forget it. My mom is the best mom in the whole world!
